Ultimate Goal

2020-21

Eowyn

Named after a character from Lord of the Rings famous for the quote "I am no man!" Eowyn was made mainly of laser cut material and was designed entirely virtually. The robot was designed to be completely modular so the team members could work on the robot at the same time while maintaining social distancing precautions. It was designed to score on the wobble goal and that accomplishment led to us winning the Innovate Award at the Los Angeles Regionals.

Outreach

We worked with CoachArt, a non profit that works with kids with chronic illnesses and hosted a four week coding club. We also hosted a DIY engineering workshop with a non profit called No Limits that works with kids with hearing impairments. We organized a panel with Simon Giertz and inventor and YouTuber to talk about her experiences in STEM and held design panel reviews with engineers from JPL, UCLA, and USC as well as FTC Alumni.

Partnerships

This season we were partnered with FIRST Ladies, which works to empower women in FIRST, and LGBTQ+ of FIRST, which creates a safe space for LGBTQ+ students in robotics. We were also sponsored by Reality Server, an OnShape extension that allows users to make 3D renders of their CADs.

Team

This season our team consisted on fifteen members ranging between tenth and twelfth grade.
