About Us

The robotics program at our school, Marlborough High School, began its story. We compete in collaboration with Loyola High School’s FIRST Robotics Competition (FRC) team. Due to monetary and spatial restrictions, however, we became our own separate team the following year.

The FIRST Tech Challenge (FTC) Marlbots Team 3526 is made!

Marlborough School's FIRST Lego League (FLL) team is founded in hopes of inspiring middle school students to be exposed to robotics before reaching high school.

Our team moves into an official STEM classroom and adds two new 3D printers. We win the Motivate Award at LA Regionals for our connections with our local STEM community, qualifying us for the West Super-Regionals held in Oakland, CA. There, we earn the 3rd place Connect Award.

In 2015-2016, we participated in the RES-Q game, where we won the Inspire Award for the first time at the Monrovia Qualifier! After being on the finalist alliance at the LA Regional Championships, we once again qualified for West Super Regionals.

Our school removes our old computer lab and constructs a new engineering and entrepreneurship space called the SPARC. This is where robotics, computer science, and entrepreneurship classes are held.

The Marlborough Robotics Program is created as a result of the addition of a new Marlborough FTC team, 11770 Curiosity. We begin hosting the league meet competitions for Los Angeles League A1 at our school. After earning the Inspire Award at our Interleague tournament, as well as being the Winning Alliance Captain at LA Regionals, we are once again able to compete at the Super Regionals Competition in Tacoma, Washington. We then competed at the World Championships in Houston, Texas, where we earn the Motivate Award, making us the first team from the LA region in seven years to win an award at the Worlds level.

We continue to host League Meets for our league at our school, and welcomed a third FTC team, 12997 Cosmos, to our Marlborough robotics community for our 7th and 8th-grade students. After earning the Inspire Award in our InterLeague Competition, and then receiving 2nd Place Inspire at LA Regionals, we attend the fifth, and our fourth, Super Regionals Tournament!

We welcome our second middle school team, 14917 Asteria, to our Marlborough robotics program! We host league meets at our school for the third year in a row, and are Winning Alliance Captain at our Interleague tournament! We are then able to compete at Los Angeles Regionals,  where we win the Inspire Award, advancing us to Houston World Championships once again. After competing in Texas at the World Championships, we once again earn the Motivate Award, making us the first Los Angeles team to earn two judged awards at Worlds.

At our Interleague tournament we were in a winning alliance with our sister teams Curiosity 11770 and Asteria 14917. We also won the think award and were second place Inspire. At Los Angeles Regionals were in the winning alliance with our sister team Curiosity 11770 and won the Inspire award, advancing us to the Houston World Championships for a second year in a row. Unfortunately due to the COVID-19 pandemic worlds was cancelled and our team went virtual.

We competed in Ultimate Goal completely virtually. We participated in our QT tournament and won the Inspire award! At the Los Angeles Regional Championships, we won the Innovate award for our robot's ability to score on the wobble goal and were second place Inspire, advancing us to the World Championships again. Worlds was once again cancelled due to the pandemic, but we created a miniature battle bots game with our sister teams to play instead.
